Owen finished off his first season of soccer this morning. Since Owen had a lot of fun playing with his team last fall, we chose to keep going down to Kaysville for games and practices. He was really glad that he didn't have to change soccer teams in the middle of the year.

Myths for Story Time
Owen, MayLynn, and I had a fun learning time today. First, I read them the Myth about Daedalus and Icarus. Next we pulled out the art supplies and had the kids each paint a picture of the story.
Then to top it all off, Owen wrote his version of the story. Here's their finished work: MayLynn's picture, Owen's story, then Owen's picture

Here is Owen's story - his spelling included:

Memorial Day
Since this is the first Memorial Day in a long time that we've been in Utah and able to visit the grave sites of our family members, we took the kids to the Kaysville Cemetery and the Aultorest Memorial Park in Ogden and showed them where some of their grandparents have been buried. We took a small bouquet of roses from my flower garden to put on Grandpa Steven Allen's grave since it's the first time we've been back to the cemetery since he passed away.
Grandpa Owen Dale Allen, Grandma Connie Webster Allen, and Grandpa Steven Webster Allen are buried in Kaysville. Grandma Dora LaFon Simpson, Grandpa Keith Simpson, Grandma Ruby Hansen LaFon, and Grandpa James LaFon are buried in Ogden.
Laurie's Birthday
We had an Allen Family get-together to celebrate Laurie's Birthday (Jon's wife for those who don't know her personally).
We played baseball with the kids before settling in for an evening of D&D and camaraderie.
And since I somehow didn't end up taking a picture of Laurie myself, here's a recent picture of her that I stole from Facebook. Happy Birthday Laurie!

Royer Family Fun at a Softball Tournament
My youngest sister, Mary, was going to playing in a softball tournament in Spanish Fork this weekend, so after Owen's soccer game, we packed up the van and headed south to see family, watch softball, and have some fun.
The adults had fun playing a game of Spikeball, and the kids had fun playing with Grandma and Grandpa. They all took turns having Grandpa Horsey rides.
And Grandpa pushed them on the swings. At one point he had all five grandkids swinging at the same time. It was a fun family-filled day. It's nice to live close enough to get together for impromptu family gatherings.
