Pretty in Pink

MayLynn is such a joy.  She's generally happy, fun to play with, and since she's adorable I get to have fun dressing her up.  This week for church she got to wear the cute little dress that she got from her Grandma Allen paired with the headband that I made to match the dress.  As soon as I pulled out the camera, she started to pose.  And since I couldn't pick just one picture I figured I'd give you a sampling of my favorites.

Smile pretty girl!

Halloween Time

Since I have spent 3/4 of the month of October fighting a cold, the kids and I have found ways to keep ourselves occupied indoors.  To do so Owen and I have had a whole lot of fun making Halloween decorations.  I could post individual pictures of all of the different projects, but I think a collage will give yo a good idea and let you see our fun in one big lump:
Part of the fun of Halloween time is not only the decorations, but the costumes as well.  MayLynn's costume was easy.  I just recycled Owen's first Halloween costume (although he was 4 months at the time and she's 7 months, it fit them both : ).  Here's my cute little bumble bee MayLynn:

When I first asked Owen what he wanted to be for Halloween this year he very adamantly said, "Captain America!"  And since he didn't change his mind even a little bit, Captain America is who he is this year.  I found the uniform and mask at Wal Mart, but since he's had a whole lot of fun playing around the house with home-made shields all fall, I figured that I would make his shield.  So with cardboard, paper mache and a little bit of paint we ended up with a pretty awesome shield for my little super hero.  And the night before our church Halloween party we had a little bit of fun trying on his costume for the first time:

Here's Owen with his pizza cardboard shield that he's been playing with for a couple of weeks now:
Here he is with his new shield:
And just for giggles, here's a picture of Cape Mask Shield Guy who came to visit that same night:
The next day, as we got dressed up to go to our party, I took a couple more pictures of Owen outside with better lighting so you can see Captain America in all his glory:
I also took a couple of pictures of both Owen and MayLynn together.  Here are my cute little Trick-or-Treaters:

Play Time

I love playing with my kids.  Right now they are both in very fun stages.  Owen really likes playing with his play-doh, lincoln logs, and Star Wars action figures.  He also really likes pretending to be a super hero (usually Captain America, but not always).  MayLynn likes to eat, smile, cuddle, wiggle and dance.  She loves to sit up and roll around on the floor to get into Owen's toys.  She's not crawling yet, but I'm pretty sure she soon will be.

Both Owen and MayLynn also like music, and MayLynn likes listening to Owen practice his piano lessons.  Today, after Owen played his songs, MayLynn reached out toward the piano and indicated that she wanted to play too.  So, I let her sit next to her brother and grabbed the camera.  I was rewarded with the following priceless pictures:
I hope that you too can see how much these two love to be together and play together.  Now we just get to wait and see what happens when MayLynn gets mobile enough to want to play with all of Owen's toys - not just the ones he wants her too :).

Cakes and Cuties

Today I am 29.  I don't feel any different than I did yesterday, although there has been quite a bit that has happened in the past year.  Most importantly is this birth of the cute little girl below. MayLynn is always a sweetheart and I love her so much.  I'm very glad that I get to be her mommy.

How have I been celebrating my birthday this year?  Our friends, the Smiths, came and spent the weekend with us.  I made myself a coconut birthday cake (I made my own cake because I wanted to, not because I had to) and Leslie made pumpkin pie that I finished off for breakfast this morning.  We played games, had fun and even had a little bit of girl time while Captain watched the kids.  It was a very fun visit.

Here's the cake I made and below that I'm blowing out the candles with support from my boys.

Thanks everyone for the Happy Birthday!
